Peñalara is a sporting and intellectual benchmark and organizes hundreds of activities each year, always maintaining the open and welcoming style that has characterized it since its founding.

IDENTITY
- The Royal Spanish Mountaineering Society Peñalara defines itself as a mountain sports society that understands mountaineering as a space that integrates the natural and the human, the sporting and the cultural, the intellectual and the ethical.
- A society that has mountaineering at its core and wishes to maintain it as a basic activity.
- A society that conceives of the mountains as a favorable environment for effort, self-improvement, generosity, and cooperation.
- A society that views the mountains from a place of humility and respect for nature and that works for their knowledge, conservation, and protection.
- An open and dynamic, non-profit society that, regardless of the ideological or religious affiliation of each member, is a model of good practice and commitment to a healthy and ethical way of life based on the practice of mountaineering.

OBJETIVOS
- Promote sporting activities, publications, and environmental and cultural initiatives aimed at improving knowledge, respect, protection, dissemination, and appreciation of the mountains and their surroundings.
- Promote mountaineering and facilitate the safe and satisfactory practice of mountain sports, providing training and technical information and promoting frequent and varied activities.
- Promote understanding between the most sporting and the most protectionist ideas regarding respect for and use of the mountains, natural spaces, and rural ways of life.
- Collaborate, while maintaining its independence, with official institutions and with society as a whole for the knowledge and respect of mountains and mountaineering.
- Facilitate cohesion, coexistence, and camaraderie among its members, collecting their initiatives, proposals, and requests.
- Devote special attention in sports and culture to the Guadarrama and Gredos mountain ranges, the Picos de Europa, and the Picos de Europa. Europe and the Central Pyrenees, for their deep connection with our origins and our history.
- Maintain the century-old Peñalara Illustrated Mountaineering Magazine as the main means of expression and transmission of its current events, its history, and the values that define the Society.
