Fifty years after the first Spanish ascent of an eight-thousander, Carlos Soria, 86, a participant in this first expedition, paid his personal and moving tribute to all his companions on Manaslu in 1975.

In 2025, the RSEA Peñalara will launch this trophy, an event that brings together those who want to set challenges to complete throughout the year. It will begin on January 1st of each year. TROPHY RULES
The Teógenes Trophy is a tribute to Teógenes Díaz Gabín and maintains its original purpose of keeping alive the memory of this climber, co-founder of the Peñalara GAM, a pioneer of difficult climbing, and one of the most prominent figures in the history of climbing at the RSEA Peñalara and in Spain. Therefore, the Trophy also aims to recognize and reward climbing and mountaineering when practiced with courage and brilliance.
